Summer 2026: The Decision Room Fellowship

July 6 – August 10, 2026

The Decision Room Fellowship is NexaYouth’s immersive summer program designed for students who want to understand how real world decisions are made and how power, media, policy, and leadership shape our global reality.

This fellowship is a one week, live, online experience, but it runs across multiple weeks throughout the summer, allowing students to apply for the week that best fits their schedule. Each cohort participates in a full Decision Room experience during their selected week.

The Decision Room is built for students who are curious, outspoken, analytical, and ready to engage deeply with the world around them. Fellows do not sit back and observe. They step into the room, take on responsibility, and make decisions.

What Is the Decision Room?

The Decision Room is a live simulation based fellowship where students take on real roles such as diplomats, journalists, policymakers, strategists, and public leaders. Throughout the week, fellows are placed in evolving scenarios that mirror real global challenges and are asked to respond in real time.

Each day focuses on a core theme that shapes modern society, including:

  • Government, law, and leadership
  • Media, misinformation, and public narrative
  • Public opinion and political influence
  • Culture, power, and identity
  • International relations and diplomacy
  • A culminating global crisis summit where fellows apply everything they have learned

Students debate, collaborate, negotiate, present arguments, and make decisions together. Every session is discussion driven and designed to push students to think critically, speak confidently, and engage with multiple perspectives.

Why the Decision Room Matters

The Decision Room Fellowship is designed to help students develop skills that colleges and future opportunities truly value.

Fellows leave the program with:

  • Stronger critical thinking and problem solving skills
  • Confidence speaking in group discussions and high pressure settings
  • A deeper understanding of global issues and decision making
  • Clear examples of leadership, collaboration, and initiative
  • Meaningful experiences to reference in college applications, essays, and interviews

For students who may not yet be eligible for internships, or who want to prepare before stepping into one, the Decision Room provides a powerful foundation. For students already involved in leadership or academic programs, it offers depth, challenge, and real engagement beyond the classroom.

Who Should Apply?

The Decision Room Fellowship is ideal for students who:

  • Are interested in politics, law, media, global affairs, or leadership
  • Enjoy discussion, debate, and critical thinking
  • Want meaningful experiences for college applications
  • Are curious about how decisions shape society
  • Want to be challenged and heard
